Liposculpture or Liposuction (also known as the fat removal surgery) reshapes specific areas of the body which have not been improved by diet and exercise by removing excess fat. It is not an obesity treatment. Typical areas treated include the abdomen, flanks, thighs, buttocks and male breasts but the procedure can also be used on other areas of the body.
Small incisions are made in the skin through which a thin tube (cannula) is inserted. This is used to loosen the fat which is then suctioned out of the body.
Following the procedure a compression garment is worn which will help to reduce swelling and contour the new shape.

As the swelling can be significant, the results won’t be fully apparent for at least 4-6 months after surgery and, in some cases, residual swelling may take up to six months to subside.
The scars will, in most cases, fade and improve over time.
Providing a healthy weight is maintained, the results after a liposuction surgery can be long lasting.
